Food Maestro is committed to enabling a more safe food consumption for all, and as part of this we have partnered with Shelly Bays Training and Coaching to offer WIFOB 2024, which aims at empowering young women with skills and knowledge in Food safety, food processing, leadership, marketing, communication and finance, needed to thrive in food manufacturing business..

About WIFOB

Women in Food Business (WIFOB) is an education program that focuses on empowering young women to thrive in life through small business ownership in food processing. It will provide a platform to build knowledge and skills in business, food processing and food safety, through internships and workshops, as well as networks and connections. The 2024 WIFOB will be held in Lagos, Nigeria with participants drawn from young women aged 18 to 35 who are micro and small scale food processing business owners or who intend running a food processing business.

 

The first cohort of the WIFOB project is partially sponsored by the government of the United State of America, as a Reciprocal Exchange Award to the fellow. This award allows a collaboration with Shelly Bays, a business expert and Immaculate Nwajagu, a food processor and food safety expert, to empower young women of Lagos Nigeria, with skills and knowledge vital in food processing businesses.

What it covers

  • Awareness creation: The session will help expose prospective and young micro and small scale food business owners on the necessary skills required to thrive a successful food business.
  • This session will provide coaching and mentorship opportunities.
  • Internship opportunities
  • Business skills acquisitions (structuring, marketing, communications, leadership and finance)
  • Food processing skills acquisitions
  • Food Safety knowledge
  • Networking
  • Opportunity to join community of food business owners

Who can apply

To apply, you must answer YES to the questions below;

  • Are you a female residing in Lagos State, Nigeria? 
  • Are you aged 18 to 35?
  • Are you a Food processing/manufacturing business owner or have a dream of starting one?

Deadline for applications

Monday 16th January, 2024

It is recommended that you submit your application at the earliest opportunity. 

Successful applicants will be notified week commencing: 24th – 26th January, 2024.
